This event, which featured the participation of the Councilor for Linguistic Normalization, Santi Cortells, serves as a prologue to the Festa per la Llengua (Language Festival) that will be held this Saturday in the Plaça Major of Vila-real. The city thus becomes a meeting point for the promotion and celebration of the Valencian language.
The book Tasta el món en valencià, promoted by the Voluntariat pel Valencià program, collects recipes and stories from newcomers who have found in Valencian a tool for integration and coexistence. The initiative combines language and gastronomy as universal languages that facilitate intercultural dialogue and rootedness in the territory.
The presentation had a particularly relevant component for Vila-real, as three of the recipes included in the book were prepared by learners from the city. This fact demonstrates the active role of the municipality in promoting Valencian and in the linguistic reception of newcomers.
“"Valencian is a tool for coexistence and a gateway to our culture, and projects like this demonstrate that learning the language also means experiences, flavors, and life stories."
From the Department of Linguistic Normalization, the aim was to highlight this local participation, which reflects the reality of an open, diverse city committed to social cohesion through language. The book is born with the desire to go beyond the traditional recipe book and give voice to the personal stories behind each dish, reinforcing the value of Valencian as a welcoming language.
With this presentation, Vila-real reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of Valencian and to initiatives that foster inclusion, respect, and shared cultural richness, in a particularly significant weekend with the celebration of the Festa per la Llengua.
