The municipal accounts have been prepared in a complex context, marked by personnel difficulties, the need for the City Council's modernization, and the priority of guaranteeing payment to suppliers. In this regard, Benlloch emphasized that one of the main objectives is to attend to people and companies “behind each invoice,” with over 8 million euros allocated to settle outstanding payments.
The budget is structured around four fundamental pillars: municipal modernization, with staff stabilization and the incorporation of new technical profiles; economic responsibility, ensuring financial stability; support for citizens and local businesses, with tax breaks such as the reduction of IBI and aid totaling around 2 million euros; and the strengthening of quality public services.
“"This budget will allow us to look to the future with hope."
The deputy mayor highlighted the increase of 254,000 euros in allocations for agreements and subsidies, with new aid for entities such as Vilatea, CASDA, or SOS Colònies, among others, with the aim of strengthening social protection and assisting the most vulnerable groups. Additionally, the budget includes sustainability measures, such as the agreement with AVAMET or aid to implement selective waste collection in early childhood schools.
The council is also making progress in reducing municipal debt, which stands at 36%, with the forecast of liquidating the loan requested in 2010. Regarding investments, an initial 652,971 euros will be allocated, with actions such as the opening of Portugal Avenue, the Southwest Ring Road, or the launch of Vilabici.
“"The accounts are a tool to continue building a more just, sustainable, and opportunity-filled city."
