This initiative, promoted by Ecoembes and the Generalitat, started in Sagunto and will run until May 21. The participating municipalities are Almassora, Burriana, l’Alcora, Onda, la Vall d’Uixó, Sagunto, Segorbe, Moncofa, and Almenara. The challenge is to improve recycling data for plastic, cans, and bricks, compared to the same period last year.
The winning municipality will be the one that, after achieving the minimum required increase, registers the highest contribution in kilos per inhabitant. The economic prize will be donated to a previously selected NGO, thus combining environmental impact with a charitable nature.
In the previous edition, more than 50,000 residents participated in the organized activities, along with 100 awareness talks that brought together more than 2,000 people. For this year, informative street actions have been scheduled, with environmental educators who will visit high-traffic areas and answer questions about recycling.
The initiative includes activities such as the Recycling Roulette or the Ecoword game, as well as training sessions in educational centers and social groups, with the aim of strengthening environmental awareness and improving waste separation in the domestic sphere.
“"Collaboration with the administration is key to promoting citizen participation in recycling policies and moving towards a more sustainable model."
The Director General of Quality and Environmental Education of the Generalitat, Jorge Blanco, has highlighted the importance of cooperation between institutions and entities to promote recycling and has recognized the awareness work carried out in the territory.
