Marta Barrachina, president of the Provincial Council of Castellón, visited Burriana this Tuesday, accompanied by Mayor Jorge Monferrer, to personally assess the condition of the Sant Blai sports center. The purpose of this visit was to verify the need for a comprehensive renovation that would adapt the space, built in the 1980s, to current accessibility and safety regulations.
The project presented during the visit includes the elimination of architectural barriers, facilitating access for people with reduced mobility and allowing official competitions to be held. Additionally, the facilities that serve various sports disciplines will be modernized. Barrachina emphasized that the improvement of this facility is a priority, as it is part of the daily lives of numerous clubs and users, seeking to guarantee optimal, safe, and accessible conditions for everyone.
“"We know the importance of this sports facility, which is part of the daily lives of numerous clubs and users, so its improvement is a priority to guarantee optimal, safe, and accessible conditions for everyone."
Currently, the Sant Blai sports center has significant deficiencies, as it does not comply with accessibility criteria, which limits its use for official competitions. The action, with an investment of 700,000 euros, will restore the facility's full functionality as a benchmark sports space in the municipality, adapting and modernizing a key pavilion for Burriana.
The Mayor of Burriana, Jorge Monferrer, expressed his satisfaction with the support from the Provincial Council, emphasizing that without this collaboration, it would be very difficult to carry out projects of this magnitude. He added that the renovation of Sant Blai not only modernizes one of the most used facilities but also fulfills the duty to offer inclusive and accessible sports spaces for all residents of Burriana.
