The transformation of a city goes beyond the mere execution of works; it involves listening to citizens' needs, understanding their environment, and acting with a clear purpose: to improve people's lives. In Onda, this philosophy is fundamental, and every urban intervention, however small it may seem, responds to a real need of the residents and a vision for the future focused on quality of life, safety, and a sense of belonging.
A clear example of this policy is the recent action in the Castle neighborhood. Where there was once a degraded space and an urban barrier with an old electricity transformer, today there is an accessible, safe pedestrian passage fully integrated into the historic surroundings. This is not just about stairs, but about recovering a place for residents, dignifying a corner of the city, and continuing to advance towards a more friendly and cohesive Onda.
“"We promised that we would make Onda more beautiful than ever, in all neighborhoods, and we are delivering. Today we take another step to improve mobility, safety, and the quality of public spaces, eliminating disused elements and recovering areas for the enjoyment of Onda residents."
This is the spirit of the 'Onda Bonica' urban beautification plan, an initiative that since 2019 has allowed action in more than 40 urban spaces that needed attention. The objective is not only to beautify but also to generate opportunities for walking, coexisting, enjoying heritage, and highlighting ceramics, a hallmark that defines the city.
Despite the progress, the city council management is aware that there is still a long way to go. Governing implies not settling, continuing to listen, and prioritizing needs. Every neighborhood and every resident matters, which is why actions will continue to be promoted to improve accessibility, eliminate barriers, and recover spaces for people. Onda advances thanks to the collaboration of its inhabitants, a solid foundation for building the future.
