This June, the town of Onda will transform into a major meeting point for contemporary ceramic muralism with the celebration of its 10th Ceramic Convivences. The event, which has already sold out all available spots weeks before its start, will be held from June 24th to 28th at the Museu del Taulell ‘Manolo Safont’, with Italy as this year's guest country.
The organization has announced that Italian artist Veronica Fabrozzo will lead the creation of the large collective mural for this edition, a key attraction of the convivences that have established Onda as a national and international benchmark in ceramic art.
The Councilor for Culture, Daniel Álvaro, highlighted the event's significance, stating that it “represents one of Onda's most unique and recognized cultural proposals, capable of attracting talent, creativity, and visitors around our ceramic tradition.” He added that “reaching the tenth edition with all spots filled demonstrates the prestige and consolidation of this project.”
Veronica Fabrozzo, founder of the Ars Melusina project, is known for her work in ceramic experimentation, mural art, and the contemporary reinterpretation of traditional artisanal techniques. During the convivences, she will guide the creative process of a collective mural alongside participants and attendees, upholding the collaborative spirit that has characterized this cultural gathering since its inception. Fabrozzo's artistic proposal merges visual storytelling, tradition, and contemporaneity, making the creative process an experience open to cultural exchange. The resulting mural will become part of the artistic heritage associated with Onda's Ceramic Convivences.
The international dimension of the event will be further enhanced by the presence of prominent Italian specialists in the study and conservation of historical ceramics and contemporary design. Participants include Dr. Vittoria Nassi, curator at the Montelupo Ceramic Museum, and Dr. Marina Vignozzi, curator of the Bitossi Archive. Both will deliver a talk focusing on Italian ceramic tradition and key figures in contemporary design such as Aldo Londi and Ettore Sottsass.
The program will also feature experimental workshops, technical demonstrations, PechaKucha sessions, cultural activities, live firings, and new proposals linked to the ON FIRE space and the established Ceramic Mascletà.
