The Local Police of Burriana have initiated proceedings against a resident for the alleged falsification of a parking card for people with reduced mobility, after detecting its fraudulent use in a reserved space.

The incident occurred last Saturday, when a citizen, a legitimate beneficiary of such cards, alerted officers after noticing that a vehicle parked in a reserved space had exceeded the permitted time, preventing its use. Upon arriving at the scene, officers requested the vehicle owner and examined the document displayed.
During the inspection, it was verified that the card was a digitalization of an original document issued by a neighboring municipality and in another person's name. Initial investigations confirmed that the false document was being used by several members of the same family in Burriana, exacerbating the harm to legitimate cardholders.

"We will pursue these types of frauds that directly harm the legitimate holders of reduced mobility cards."

Given the seriousness of the facts, the Local Police initiated proceedings for an alleged crime of document falsification, remitting the report to the Guardia Civil Main Post and the Duty Court.
The Burriana City Council has highlighted the creation of the Document Management Group (GEDOC), a specialized unit in document analysis, composed of an officer and an agent under the direction of an inspector. This group aims to support other units in verifying official documentation, especially regarding traffic matters, and already conducts weekly preventive controls.
