The senators from Castellón representing the People's Party will defend a motion in the Senate's Transport commission this Monday, calling on the central government to invest in road infrastructure deemed essential for the province. This initiative follows a similar proposal approved by Les Corts Valencianes, which did not receive support from the PSPV and Compromís.
The motion includes long-standing demands for various parts of the territory, such as the inland connection between Vilanova d’Alcolea and La Jana, the reactivation of suspended works on the N-232 between southern Morella and the masia de la Torreta, the northern access to Benicàssim via the N-340, new connections to the AP-7, as well as improvements in Torreblanca, Almenara, Les Alqueries, Sant Jordi, Vila-real, and Vinaròs.
PPCS senator Susana Marqués has highlighted the halt in construction on the N-232, an infrastructure project that was already awarded and whose works are now stalled without an official resumption schedule. According to the PP, this investment deadlock negatively impacts the province's competitiveness and territorial cohesion.
In Benicàssim, the People's Party emphasizes the need to develop road access suitable for the municipality's tourism and economic significance, particularly in an area that receives a high influx of visitors and where the current network faces capacity and safety limitations.
Additionally, the proposal includes actions to eliminate black spots on the N-340, especially in Almenara, implement the bypass for Les Alqueries to reduce urban traffic, and enhance safety at the southern junction of Torreblanca and the underpass in Sant Jordi.
