The Local Police of Burriana has initiated proceedings against a resident for the alleged forgery of a reduced mobility parking card, following a complaint from a legitimate user.

The police action began after a citizen complained about being unable to use a reserved parking space in Burriana. Officers, upon arriving at the scene, requested the vehicle's removal and, during inspection, confirmed that the card displayed was a digital copy of an original document issued by another municipality and in another person's name.
Initial investigations confirmed not only the falsity of the document but also its continuous use by several members of the same family. This type of fraud has a direct and negative impact on legitimate beneficiaries, as it restricts their access to reserved spaces and essential advantages for their daily mobility.
For this reason, officers transferred the proceedings to the Guardia Civil Main Post and the Duty Court, considering the facts as an alleged crime of document forgery. Furthermore, the Burriana City Council has strengthened its strategy against these practices by creating GEDOC, a specialized group within the Local Police dedicated to verifying official documents.

"To pursue these types of fraud that directly harm the legitimate holders of reduced mobility cards, hindering their daily lives in such an essential aspect as mobility."

The Document Management Group (GEDOC) is composed of personnel expert in document forensics and provides technical support to other units. Its work focuses on detecting irregularities in traffic-related documents and improving road safety. This unit conducts weekly preventive controls and, in a recent intervention, located a vehicle with a foreign license plate stolen in its country of origin, which was circulating with falsified documentation and alterations to the chassis number.

"Citizens must understand that lack of solidarity and cunning can lead to crime and having to answer to Justice. With the implementation of GEDOC, Burriana is once again at the forefront of achieving a safer city and creating an environment with more surveillance and police presence capable of guaranteeing that the rights of all residents are respected."
