The Burriana City Council has launched the educational program 'The Water Course', involving 334 schoolchildren from ten schools to raise awareness about responsible water use and the protection of the Mijares River.

The Burriana City Council is reinforcing environmental awareness among young people through participation in the educational program ‘The Water Course’. This initiative, developed by Facsa, aims to promote the responsible use of water resources.
During April and May, a total of 334 primary and special education students from ten educational centers in the municipality are participating free of charge in these environmental awareness workshops. The sessions, lasting about two and a half hours, take place in Facsa's educational classroom, where students learn concepts about the natural and urban water cycle.
The activities incorporate technological tools and innovative pedagogical dynamics, such as interactive comics, augmented reality applications, and the use of tablets, to facilitate learning content related to sustainability and the environment.
This edition of the project pays special attention to the Protected Landscape of the Mouth of the Mijares River, a natural area of great ecological value to the Burriana surroundings. Through practical workshops and experimental activities, schoolchildren learn about water pollution, purification, and regeneration processes, and reflect on the environmental impact of daily habits, such as flushing wet wipes down the toilet.
The workshops also include guided tours of the Facsa Control Center to show students how water management works. Participating centers include CEIP Pare Vilallonga, CEIP Penyagolosa, CEIP Cardenal Tarancón, Colegio Nuestra Señora de la Consolación, Colegio Salesiano San Juan Bautista, Colegio Illes Columbretes, CEIP Novenes de Calatrava, Colegio Villa Fátima, and CEE Pla Hortolans.
The Councilor for the Environment, Noelia Peris, highlighted the importance of offering schoolchildren practical and attractive tools that turn theory into educational experiences about sustainability and the protection of the natural environment.
