The Burriana City Council has provisionally awarded the expansion works for the municipal cemetery, which will include the construction of 260 new niches and the reurbanization of the surrounding area.

The Contracting Board has proposed awarding the work to the company Eulen SA for a final amount of 370,392.54 euros. The project will be developed in the area of the cemetery that extends towards the CV-18 road, continuing the reforms carried out in recent years.
The intervention includes the construction of two blocks of prefabricated niches, with 136 and 124 burial places respectively, distributed over four levels. Special stainless steel canopies will also be installed to protect the structures from the sun.
The renovation will not be limited to creating new funerary spaces. The City Council plans to transform an area of approximately 685 square meters to integrate it with the rest of the enclosure. The works include paving interior walkways, installing benches and bins, planting garden areas with their own irrigation system, and installing a decorative fountain in the central axis. The subsoil will also be equipped with new piping networks to ensure potable water supply, a drainage system, and electrical pre-installation for public lighting.
This action is in addition to improvements made in recent years, such as the reopening of the cemetery church every Sunday and the restoration of special hours during the All Saints' Day holiday. Two years ago, urbanization and expansion works were carried out, allowing for the construction of 200 new niches and 72 columbaria, with an investment close to 300,000 euros.
