The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has commenced the first phase of works to duplicate six kilometers of the N-340 road near Orpesa, in la Plana Alta, with a budget of 28.5 million euros.

This intervention, spanning from kilometer 992 to 998, primarily aims to enhance traffic flow and road safety in this section. The works will include adapting the existing alignment and a complete reorganization of the road's access points.
Among the planned improvements, a new interchange in the Renegada area and the redesign of the existing semi-interchange in Orpesa stand out. Furthermore, the connection with the AP-7 motorway will be significantly improved, facilitating movements between both routes.
The project includes, at kilometer 992.7, the creation of a new diamond-type interchange with an underpass roundabout, which will allow direct access to Renegada and the karting area. The current semi-interchange, which crosses the N-340 via an underpass, will also be modified to a diamond configuration, retaining the underpass.
Regarding the connection with the AP-7, the current T-intersection, located at kilometer 996, will be replaced by a trumpet-type grade-separated interchange. This new interchange will cross the N-340 with an overpass, ensuring all possible movements between the national road and the motorway.
