The Nova Muixeranga of Catarroja has organized a memorial event at Parc de les Barraques to honor the 230 victims of the cold drop, remembering the tragedy and demanding justice.

The Nova Muixeranga of Catarroja, located in l'Horta Sud, held a moving event to remember the 230 people who lost their lives due to the cold drop. The ceremony, which took place at Parc de les Barraques, considered ground zero of the tragedy, brought together families of the victims, local residents, and members of the municipal corporation.
During the event, tribute was paid to the victims, and a check from the campaign “20:11 Ni oblit ni perdó” (20:11 Neither forget nor forgive) was presented to the Association of Fatal Victims of DANA October 29th. The importance of citizen collaboration was highlighted, with a call for constant remembrance: “No forgetting. No silence. No impunity.”

"They did not leave, but they stole our family members from us."

The president of the Association of Fatal Victims of the cold drop, Rosa Álvarez, directed critical remarks towards the Consell (Regional Government), pointing to negligence as the cause of the deaths. She emphasized that the current Consell is “the same as the one from the tragic day, except for one person,” implicitly referring to the former president of the Generalitat.

"Those 230 people, our family and loved ones, were stolen from us due to the negligence of a former president and his Consell. Nothing more, nothing less. A Consell, let's not forget, that remains the same, except for one person. 20.11. We will never forget."

Álvarez reiterated the demand for truth, justice, reparation, and memory for the victims. She highlighted the “strength of the people” as a driving force for change and encouraged maintaining the fight and raising voices for those who can no longer do so. She also thanked the attendees, including council members from the Catarroja municipal corporation.
