The situation in this area, particularly affected by floods, has led residents to warn about the risks posed by large potholes, which are often hidden under water. Furthermore, the presence of persistent puddles and accumulated mud contributes to mosquito proliferation and general uncleanliness.
Municipal sources explained that the area is undeveloped and part of an urban planning zone that was halted after the collapse of the PAI Benicàssim Golf project, due to environmental conditions. For this reason, the City Council cannot carry out a complete urbanization with asphalt, sidewalks, or sewage systems.
However, the council has made punctual repairs to reduce potholes when there was a safety risk and has provided services with pumping equipment during flood episodes. The definitive solution for the urbanization of this sector remains linked to future urban development, which must adapt to environmental and flood-risk conditions.
“"We have the street flooded, plagued by mosquitoes and dirt."
The key to the blockage lies in the protection of the existing wetland in the area and the historical problem of floods. An approved alternative involves the construction of dikes to protect nearby homes affected by water surges, a measure considered more compatible with environmental preservation.
