The Castellón Local Police intervened on April 5 an electric personal mobility vehicle (PMV) that was traveling at 89.9 km/h, far exceeding the permitted limit, and was driven by a minor without the required age or mandatory insurance.

Officers from the Castellón Local Police detected on April 5 two minors riding electric scooters on the Carretera de Borriol. During the operation, one of the vehicles was identified as a model capable of exceeding the speed limits established by current regulations.
After subjecting the scooter to a speed test with a certified roller, it was confirmed that the vehicle reached 89.9 km/h, well above the maximum 25 km/h allowed for PMVs. This speed disqualifies it as a personal mobility vehicle under current legislation.
In addition to the excessive speed, it was found that the driver did not meet the minimum required age of 15 years and that the vehicle lacked mandatory civil liability insurance. Consequently, the scooter was impounded at the municipal depot, and the corresponding complaints were processed.
In total, three significant penalties were imposed: 800 euros for not having insurance, 500 euros for circulating without the necessary administrative authorization, and up to 750 euros for not complying with the minimum age required for driving this type of vehicle.

"It is essential that PMV users respect speed limits, have insurance, and comply with age requirements, as these measures are aimed at preventing accidents and ensuring safe mobility in our city."
