The Benicàssim City Council has completely renewed its municipal public bicycle fleet, an initiative that strengthens sustainable mobility and enhances the experience for residents and visitors in the municipality.

The service, available at the Torre Sant Vicent Municipal Sports Pavilion, incorporates over 40 new bicycles that can be used for a symbolic cost of 1 euro. This action is part of the municipality's tourism model, aimed at promoting sustainable, accessible forms of transport aligned with the preservation of the natural environment.

"The tourism of the future involves offering responsible experiences, where sustainable mobility plays a fundamental role. Betting on bicycles means betting on a healthier, more accessible, and more respectful destination for our environment."

Susana Marqués · Mayor of Benicàssim
Benicàssim boasts a consolidated network of over 26 kilometers of bike lanes, allowing comfortable, safe, and sustainable travel throughout the municipality, connecting beaches, natural areas, and main tourist attractions. This infrastructure becomes a key element in promoting active tourism with low environmental impact.

"The bicycle has consolidated itself as one of the key resources to advance towards a sustainable tourism model, as it allows visitors to discover the destination in a more leisurely, respectful, and connected way with the environment. Promoting bicycle use not only reduces the environmental footprint of tourism but also contributes to diversifying the offer and generating more authentic experiences aligned with new traveler demands."

Elena Llobell · Councillor for Tourism
The Councillor for Sports, Manolo Gual, noted that this service reflects a way of understanding sport as a transversal element in daily life, accessible to all and aligned with the values of health, sustainability, and well-being. He added that the Sports department works to ensure that municipal facilities and services not only promote physical activity but also contribute to generating a culture of responsible use of public space and shared resources.
This initiative is part of the Sustainable Tourism Destination Plan, funded by the European Union through the Next Generation EU funds. The council has secured over two million euros for projects that promote a more balanced, resilient, and environmentally friendly tourism model.
