The Benicàssim City Council has put out to tender the improvement of the storm drain network in the vicinity of CEIP Palmerar, a key action to prevent floods and ensure safety in a sensitive area of the municipality.

This intervention is aimed at solving the problems of water accumulation that occur at the roundabout located between Mohino Avenue, Palmeral Street, and Palmeral Road. The initiative is part of a broader municipal strategy to reinforce hydraulic infrastructures and prevent the effects of intense rainfall.

"We continue to advance in our objective of consolidating a safer city model, resilient to meteorological phenomena and better prepared for the future. This project is part of a broader strategy to improve urban infrastructures and adapt the municipality to meteorological phenomena, opting for sustainable and durable solutions."

The project includes the execution of a new pipeline approximately 386 meters long, along with the installation of scuppers, grates, and manholes, which will significantly improve the rainwater evacuation capacity. Likewise, the works will include the replacement of affected pavements and urban services. With a total investment of 311,119 euros and an estimated execution period of three months, this action is fundamental for road safety and to facilitate access to the school environment.

"This intervention solves a critical point in the municipality, improving road safety and facilitating access to a particularly sensitive area such as the school environment, in addition to responding to a neighborhood demand."

This work is in addition to the one already underway on Vicent Fuentes i Ramón Street, with the construction of a new storm drain network in the section between Quevedo and Sigalero Streets, with a budget exceeding 200,000 euros. Also noteworthy are the actions recently carried out to improve drainage on Violant de Casalduch Street, executed in 2023, which included the installation of a large-capacity pipeline and new scuppers to optimize rainwater evacuation in the area.
Furthermore, the Benicàssim City Council has approved in plenary session the project for the execution of embankments in Quadro Santiago. This action also incorporates flood studies in other critical areas, drainage improvements, and specific hydraulic actions with the aim of mitigating flood problems in this enclave. At the end of last year, the City Council Plenary unanimously approved requesting the Government of Spain to consider the flood solution for the Sigalero ravine within the state's priority works against floods, which includes the construction of a lamination basin in its channel, affecting more than 600 homes.
