Castellón de la Plana is preparing for a new edition of the MARTE fair, an event that brings together artists, galleries, and the public interested in contemporary art. The event, reaching its thirteenth edition, will be held from May 22 to 24, 2026, at the city's Auditori de Congressos, solidifying its position as one of the most relevant gatherings in the artistic landscape.
This year, the guest artist will be Juana González, who will play a leading role in the event. Represented by ARMA Gallery, her work spans painting and drawing, with compositions that merge elements of surrealism and expressionism within a narrative figuration.
González, born in Puertollano in 1972 and a Fine Arts graduate from the Complutense University of Madrid, creates pieces where the balance between representation and the pictorial matter itself gains special relevance. The use of color, textures, and brushwork defines her works, which have been exhibited in venues such as the Instituto Cervantes in Munich, the Museum of the University of Alicante, or the Centre de Arte Alcobendas, in addition to being part of various collections.
Throughout her career, she has participated in prestigious fairs such as ARCO, Untitled, Estampa, and Urvanity, and has received accolades such as Best Spanish Artist at ARCO 2025 and the López Villaseñor Plastic Arts Award.
The fair will offer free admission and a program designed for both collectors and the general public. The event is supported by the Diputación de Castellón, the Castellón City Council, and the Generalitat Valenciana, through the Consorci de Museus and the Institut Valencià de Cultura. MARTE thus establishes itself as an essential meeting point to discover current proposals and engage with contemporary creation.
