The Ministry of Health has awarded two contracts for the renovation of the air conditioning system at the Tomás Ortuño Health Center in Benidorm, a much-demanded project involving an investment of one million euros.

The first contract, for the construction work, has been formalized with Yomee Energy Services SL for an amount of 974,050 euros, including VAT. This figure is significantly lower than the initial tender budget, which amounted to 1,413,458.09 euros. During the public tender, seven companies submitted bids, although two were excluded for not meeting the minimum requirements.
The company Yomee Energy Services SL already has experience in the region, as it was responsible for the comprehensive renovation of a part of the Marina Baixa Hospital. Their selection for this project underscores confidence in their ability to carry out works of this magnitude.
The second contract, covering the engineering service for project management, has been awarded to Valnu Servicios de Ingeniería for 30,465.93 euros, including VAT. This price is also lower than the 47,300 euros initially planned. Three companies competed for this service, including Engitec Projectes d'Enginyeria SL and Investigación y Control de Calidad SAU (Incosa).
The execution period for the works is two months, suggesting that the new system could be operational by next summer. Last year, healthcare workers and patients endured temperatures close to 30 degrees Celsius, forcing some staff to bring portable air conditioners or relocate to other facilities.
The project acknowledges that the current system is depreciated and the air renovators do not comply with current regulations, generating very high levels of CO2. The work will cover all spaces on the center's four floors, except for restrooms and storage rooms, which already have adequate ventilation. In total, 2,363 square meters of surface will be air-conditioned, including administrative areas, the convention hall, and medical consultations. Additionally, a solar factor correcting film will be installed on the skylights to reduce thermal load.
