The commemorative plaque for the duo Nebulossa, winners of Benidorm Fest 2024 with the song "Zorra", has disappeared from the Music Lookout, located on the Paseo de Tamarindos in Benidorm, following an act of vandalism. The piece, made of cast iron and costing approximately 300 euros, was forcibly removed, as confirmed by the Councillor for Events, Jesús Carrobles.
The City Council has decided to postpone the plaque's replacement to take advantage of an official ceremony to renovate and expand this tribute space for artists associated with the festival. The intention is to incorporate the new Sirenita awards, given to the winners of recent editions. Thus, the microphone monolith, where the stolen plaque was located, will be updated to include Melody, winner of Benidorm Fest 2025. Additionally, the Sirenita monolith will be completed with five new plaques: one for the winners of the latest edition, Tony Grox & Lucy Calys, and four more for notable artists such as Chanel, Blanca Paloma, Nebulossa, and Melody.
The councillor indicated that removing the plaque required prying it with a screwdriver, as they are secured with hooks reinforced with silicone. The renovation of the Music Lookout aims to enhance the appeal of this space, considered a symbol of the Benidorm Fest and the city's connection to music.
Meanwhile, Benidorm Fest continues to advance in preparations for its next edition. Over 400 songs have been received, and the submission deadline has been extended to September to attract more proposals.
