The activities, driven by the departments of Health and Social Welfare, will run until May 15. The program includes free proposals, with the exception of a cultural trip, and is aimed at improving health, culture, and social interaction.
“"These activities not only offer leisure and learning, but also reinforce something fundamental such as the sense of community and the active role of our seniors in the life of the municipality."
The inaugural day brought together numerous participants from early morning for the petanque tournament at Escandinavia Park and a candle-making workshop at the Pensioners' Home. These initiatives aim to foster coexistence and creative development in a relaxed atmosphere.
The program will continue with free bone densitometry tests at the Pensioners' Home, for which prior appointment is required. A jewelry workshop will also be offered. On Tuesday, a cultural trip to Gandía will take place, with limited spots, and on Wednesday 13, there will be a visit to the Albir Lighthouse for people with reduced mobility and the finals of the petanque tournament.
Thursday 14 will include a stretching workshop and a day of coexistence at the headquarters of the Albir Retirees Association, featuring a giant paella and musical entertainment. In the afternoon, an active dance workshop will be held on the esplanade of the House of Culture. The week will conclude on Friday 15 with an Alfàs pastry workshop and the awards ceremony for the petanque tournament.
The City Council reminds residents that it is still possible to register for several programmed activities and encourages all older citizens to participate in this initiative. l'Alfàs del Pi has been part of the World Health Organization's Network of Age-Friendly Cities since 2017.
