The Generalitat has mobilized 500,000 euros in urgent humanitarian aid for Venezuela and has activated a response contingent to the emergency caused by earthquakes registered in Caracas and La Guaira.

The measure joins initiatives already being organized in the Valencian Community, especially in municipalities with a significant Venezuelan population. The Minister of Social Services, Family and Childhood, Elena Albalat, announced this contribution during a visit to the Farmamundi logistics center in Paterna. Furthermore, the Permanent Committee for Humanitarian Action of the Valencian Community is meeting this Friday to coordinate the response of the Generalitat, other administrations, and Valencian entities.
The Ministry has also activated the agreement with the Rapid Intervention Group in Emergencies of Bomberos del Mundo. The unit consists of 14 specialist firefighters and four rescue dogs, prepared to deploy urgently to Venezuela if the Government of Spain authorizes their incorporation into the operation.
In parallel, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) has proposed that city councils, provincial councils, and island councils observe a minute of silence on Monday, June 29, at 12:00 PM, in memory of the victims. Municipalities are confirming their adherence to this call in recent hours.
In the province of Alicante, Benidorm is processing aid of 8,000 euros for earthquake victims. The Spokespersons' Board has adopted the proposal of the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the motion will be voted on next Monday in the municipal plenary session. Benidorm's humanitarian aid will be channeled through the international cooperation and aid mechanisms established by the Generalitat Valenciana, the FEMP, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, or accredited humanitarian entities with on-the-ground operations.
The City Council of Benidorm also plans to convene, along with Venezuelan associations from the city and the Marina Baixa region, a solidarity gathering in the Plaza de Sus Majestades los Reyes de España. The event will include a minute of silence in memory of the victims and as a show of support for those affected.
The City Council of Elche has set up a direct phone line for people affected by the earthquake in Venezuela. The Pangea Office assists Venezuelan individuals residing in the city or with relatives in the country via 966 65 80 85 and at its headquarters in Plaza Barcelona. The Councilor for Social Action, Celia Lastra, explained that this municipal resource will offer help, advice, and support to those who need to contact Venezuela or receive guidance. The Elche council is also working on organizing humanitarian aid to channel it from next week with guarantees.
In Alicante, the Association of Women for the Socio-cultural Alliance Venezuela-Spain (AMASVE) is collecting sanitary material and medicines at its headquarters at 67 Garbinet Street. The entity, formed by Venezuelan and Spanish women, requests bandages, gauze, betadine, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, saline solution, analgesics, and antibiotics. The association's president, Míriam Álvarez Flores, plans to travel next Monday to La Guaira, one of the most affected areas, to deliver the collected material. The entity accepts donations from 9:30 AM to 9:30 PM and also provides information via phone at 698 464 187.
Santa Pola has also included the victims of Venezuela in the minute of silence held at the beginning of the ordinary June plenary session. The gesture joined the usual remembrance of victims of gender-based violence.
The Generalitat has called for solidarity donations to be made through secure channels. The Ministry is working with the Valencian Coordinator of NGOs to publish a catalog of reliable humanitarian organizations with proven experience and official accounts for channeling contributions. The objective is to avoid initiatives without guarantees and ensure that aid reaches the affected people. The regional administration maintains needs assessments with the authorities and organizations responsible for humanitarian coordination.
