These changes were communicated to various local associations and groups during a meeting held at municipal facilities. Attendees included the councilors for Mobility, Francis Muñoz; Citizen Security, Jesús Carrobles; and Commerce, Javier Jordá.
As explained by Francis Muñoz, the main objective is “to inform associations and groups related in some way to the taxi sector about the changes in the selective process to obtain the taxi driving license, which we intend to be in force by May.” Registration for this exam is expected from April 15 to 30, provided the modifications are approved.
“"If they are in possession of a driving license, it means they have already submitted the corresponding certificate."
Among the most notable changes, two annual calls for the exams will be established: in February and May, instead of the previous May and October. This measure seeks to allow new drivers to enter the job market just before the start of the high tourist season. Additionally, the requirement to present a medical certificate is eliminated, as it is considered that holding a driving license already implies having submitted it previously.
Another significant modification is the increase in the examination fee, which rises from nine to 35 euros. However, Muñoz pointed out that this increase represents a saving for applicants, as by not having to present the medical certificate, which costs approximately 50 euros, the total cost is significantly reduced. Finally, the exam format also changes, with a total of 40 questions and a scoring system that will deduct points for incorrect answers.
