The renovation, awarded for 150,630.45 euros to Sociedad Ibérica de Construcciones Eléctricas (SICE), will include more LED units than initially planned. This action, expected to be completed within a maximum of five months, aligns with sustainability and green transition objectives.
“"This new lighting, in addition to being more efficient in terms of consumption, also allows for remote management, adjusting at all times to lighting needs, respecting the marine environment without detracting from the monumentality of such an iconic and emblematic enclave of the city."
The project is funded by European Next Generation EU funds, within the framework of the 2022 'Benidorm Visión 360' Tourist Sustainability Plan in Destination. The intervention not only replaces the current light points on both sides of Punta Canfali but also plans for the installation of additional new luminaires that will not project directly towards the sea or sky, thus avoiding light pollution.
The improvement of the ornamental lighting of the Castell cliff was necessary after a long time in service, especially on the side facing Levante beach, where some light points were inoperative. This action seeks to improve lighting quality, enhance the nocturnal value of the enclave, and strengthen the tourist and landscape appeal of Punta Canfali.
With this intervention, annual energy consumption will decrease from 10KW to 1.84KW, and the bill will be reduced from approximately 8,700 euros to just over 1,500 euros. Furthermore, an estimated reduction of 8,982 kilograms of CO2 released into the atmosphere each year is expected.
