The economic allocation for each grant can amount to a maximum of 15,000 euros per entity. This initiative aims to recognize the specific importance of musical societies in the city and support their cultural and educational activities throughout the year.
The Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, highlighted the Council's awareness of the music culture dissemination work carried out by these entities, participating in social, cultural, festive, and institutional events. He also emphasized their significant educational role through music schools, fostering interest in music among children and young people from Benidorm and the surrounding region.
The Culture and Education departments will continue to support these societies through a new call for applications, the bases for which have already been approved. The grants can be used to finance the operation of music schools or student programs, the acquisition and repair of instruments, computer equipment, and travel expenses.
Beneficiaries can be musical societies with a music band that have a music school or student program, are based in Benidorm, and are registered with the City Council's cultural entities registry and the Federation of Musical Societies of the Valencian Community.
The awarding of grants will be processed through the ordinary procedure under a competitive bidding system. Applications must be submitted within one month from the publication of the call's abstract in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante.
Among the assessment criteria are the number of students and members in each band, as well as the operating expenses of their music schools. The performance of concerts in the municipality by the bands and/or students will also be considered.
The Councilor for Culture highlighted Benidorm's good fortune in having three high-level musical groups, which complement the professional training offered by the José Pérez Barceló Conservatory. The City Council continues to support the work of Unión Musical, L’Illa, and La Nova, reaffirming its commitment to the city's culture, education, and traditions.
