The Benidorm City Council has announced that urgent works will begin on Monday, April 20, on the Paseo de la Carretera to renew the electrical line and prevent power supply cuts during the summer, a period of higher energy demand.

The Councilor for Public Space, Francis Muñoz, along with the Councilor for Commerce, Javi Jordá, has informed local merchants about the necessity of these actions and the planned schedule. Muñoz detailed that the intervention consists of renewing the line that supplies the Paseo de la Carretera and the Castle area, due to a detected risk of breakage.
The works are expected to last approximately one month, with an initial forecast to finish by May 24. However, efforts will be made to expedite the works to reduce execution times. The councilor explained that the supply company warned of the risk of line breakage on the eve of Holy Week, but the start was postponed due to the tourist activity during those dates.

"We know about the proximity of the May long weekend, but we have to start the works now to work with enough anticipation and margin to ensure that the line repair is completed before June, even if unforeseen events arise."

The intervention will affect a section of about 200 linear meters on the Paseo de la Carretera, on the right margin towards Elche Park. To minimize inconvenience to merchants and residents, the work will be carried out in four phases of 50 meters each, respecting access to establishments and homes. Additionally, loading and unloading schedules will be respected in the early morning to ensure commercial supply.
Muñoz has asked for apologies, patience, and understanding from those affected, emphasizing that the action has been planned to cause as little disturbance as possible and with all safety measures. He insisted that it is a vital work to guarantee supply in the city center, and that the main beneficiaries will be the merchants and residents who will now have to live with the works.
