The city of Benidorm has been chosen as the host for the 5th International Congress of Atlético de Madrid Fan Clubs, which will take place on November 13th, 14th, and 15th. Over 700 fans are expected to attend, coming from various regions of Spain and countries such as France, England, Uruguay, or Qatar.
The selection of Benidorm as the host city was officially presented at an event attended by the Councilor for Sports of the Benidorm City Council, Javier Jordá; the president of the International Union of Atlético de Madrid Fan Clubs, Eduardo Fernández; former footballer and club legend, the Benidorm native Antonio López; and the president of the local fan club, Emilio Piernas.
Javier Jordá thanked the organization for their trust in the city to host an event of this magnitude, highlighting Benidorm's suitability for international gatherings. He announced that attendees will be able to enjoy the city's tourist offerings, an institutional reception, and various sports and social activities. Jordá expressed his hope that "people from all over the Atlético world, with that Rojiblanco sentiment that unites them, will fully enjoy our city".
For his part, Eduardo Fernández expressed his satisfaction at holding this edition in a city "as emblematic and international as Benidorm," and emphasized the "collaboration and predisposition" shown by the City Council.
The congress program will include usual activities such as the annual assembly, talks, and workshops, in addition to initiatives linked to the host city. Efforts are underway to ensure the closing ceremony has a strong sporting focus, with a triangular tournament planned for Sunday morning. This will feature Atlético de Madrid legends, Valencia CF legends, and Benidorm veterans, concluding with a popular outdoor lunch.
Antonio López, former Atlético captain, expressed his pride in Benidorm being chosen as the venue and encouraged fans to participate, promising to gather "the largest possible number of former club players." He highlighted the city's qualities as a tourist destination and wished that "the streets and squares of Benidorm will be filled with the Rojiblanco colors and Atlético spirit".
Finally, Emilio Piernas, president of the Benidorm fan club, invited fans from around the world to visit the city and enjoy the gathering.
