The expansion works on the Amadorio River Bridge, located on Cervantes Street in La Vila Joiosa, have entered the slab concreting phase, a crucial step to increase the infrastructure's width and improve safety and accessibility.

This week, 150 cubic meters of concrete, transported by about twenty trucks, were poured to form the new slab. This task, carried out manually by the employees of the awarded company, will allow the bridge to reach a total width of 11 meters.
The project, with an investment of 858,387 euros and awarded to the company Pavasal, not only aims to guarantee structural safety but also to significantly improve pedestrian accessibility. Sidewalks will be widened to 2.4 meters, the pavement, railings, and lighting will be renewed, and new water and telecommunications pipelines will be installed.
The Cervantes Bridge, built between 1840 and 1878, is a vital infrastructure for connecting the municipality. The current intervention addresses deficiencies detected in previous expansions, especially one carried out around 1950, which had caused structural problems. The local government decided to suspend the works initiated in November 2024 to incorporate technical and functional modifications that ensure long-term durability and improve mobility.
This action is part of the La Vila Joiosa City Council's multi-year investment plan, which will allocate more than 23 million euros to various improvements in the municipality.
