The Benidorm City Council has applied for a grant of 386,051.65 euros to temporarily hire unemployed women, aiming to improve their employability within the framework of the regional LABORA Dona program.

This initiative, promoted by the Generalitat Valenciana through LABORA, seeks to strengthen female employment by providing real work experience. The program will primarily focus on women over 45 years old, a demographic most affected by unemployment.
The councilor for the area noted that this action is part of the municipal strategy to promote employment for groups with higher unemployment rates. She emphasized that the program prioritizes women over 45, a particularly vulnerable segment, to facilitate their re-entry into the labor market.

The program is funded by the State Public Employment Service and has a total allocation of 12.25 million euros for the entire Comunitat Valenciana. The number of beneficiaries in Benidorm will depend on the final amount granted, as the subsidy will cover participants' salaries and social security contributions.
The hired women will work in public-facing roles in various municipal departments. The councilor highlighted the importance of such programs in revitalizing the labor market and offering real opportunities for integration, especially in an uncertain economic context. She also stressed that these contracts will not only provide stability for ten months but also allow participants to improve their professional profiles and increase their future employment prospects.
Finally, she recalled that, unlike previous calls, the LABORA Dona program is expanding in 2026 to all municipalities in the Comunitat Valenciana, allowing the Benidorm City Council to participate for the first time.
