The Civil Guard has detained a 39-year-old man in Benissa with a European Arrest Warrant, who was a fugitive from Polish authorities due to his involvement in drug trafficking.

The operation took place on April 13 at the former AP-7 toll booth in the municipality of Benissa. Officers from the Civil Guard, belonging to the Calp Company, were conducting a Citizen Security operational device when they identified a man driving alone in a vehicle with Polish license plates.
Upon identification, the officers confirmed that there was an active European Arrest and Surrender Warrant issued by the Polish authorities, specifically by the Katowice-East District Court in the city of Katowice. The man was an active member of a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking operating between European countries, and faces a sentence of more than 20 years in prison according to the authorities of his country.
During the vehicle search, the Civil Guard found a Faraday bag among his belongings. This device is used to place a mobile phone inside and block all signals, making it impossible to track or access, thus preventing location.
The detainee was placed at the disposal of the Instruction Section of the Court of First Instance of Denia, which ordered provisional detention without bail pending his extradition to the authorities in Poland.
