A 39-year-old man, wanted by Polish authorities for his alleged involvement in a criminal drug trafficking organization, has been arrested by the Civil Guard during a control in Benissa.

The arrest took place on April 13 at the old AP-7 toll road, within the municipality of Benissa. Officers from the Calpe Company were conducting a preventive public safety check when they identified the suspect, who was driving alone in a vehicle with Polish license plates.
After verifying his identity, it was confirmed that the individual was wanted by the justice system in Poland. A European arrest and surrender warrant had been issued against him by a court in Katowice, for his alleged membership in a criminal network dedicated to drug trafficking in several European countries, facing a potential sentence of over 20 years in prison.

"The fugitive used a Faraday bag to isolate his mobile phones and prevent their tracking, a measure that demonstrates his efforts to hinder surveillance by law enforcement."

a Civil Guard spokesperson
During the vehicle search, officers found a Faraday bag among the detainee's belongings, a device designed to isolate mobile phones and block any signal, thus preventing their location or external access.
Following his arrest, the man was brought before a judge in Denia. The competent authority ordered his provisional imprisonment without bail while his extradition to Poland is processed, where he will have to answer for the crimes he is accused of.
