The Pego City Council has successfully restored water supply to the Monte Pego urbanization, which had been without service for a week due to a fault in the extraction motor, given the concessionaire's lack of response.

The Pego council decided to act immediately within its scope of competence. Faced with the lack of response from the concessionaire, Monte Pego SA, the council itself undertook the repair of the pump motor so that residents of Monte Pego could regain water supply as soon as possible.
The problem began last week, on April 8, when the council started receiving calls from urbanization residents reporting no water in their homes for days. This is an unusual situation, as previous cuts had been short-lived.
After learning of the incident, the city council tried to contact Monte Pego SA, the service concessionaire, but communication could not be established. Therefore, the situation was formally notified through the Local Police.
In parallel, the council contacted the owner of the well supplying the urbanization, CB Pozo El Salvador, who reported that the water extraction motor had suffered a major electrical fault, forcing the interruption of supply.

The supply system is the direct responsibility of the concessionaire company, which is responsible for the provision, maintenance, and continuity of the service. Therefore, even if it is a fault in an installation that is not its property, it is the concessionaire who must take the necessary measures to restore and regularize the supply, including the repair of the well if its owner cannot or does not want to assume it.

The City Council has warned that, if the concessionaire does not act within an adequate period, and given the emergency situation, it will proceed to intervene through subsidiary execution to guarantee the provision of the service, without prejudice to the subsequent recovery of costs from the concessionaire entity.
Despite the restoration, some homes near Monte Pego, including areas of Benimeli, El Ràfol d’Almúnia, Tormos, and Racó dels Mortits, still lacked water, as the El Salvador well also supplies these areas.
