Pedreguer hosts the II Local Studies Conference on July 3rd and 4th

The event, organized by Fundació Família Costa i Costa and Els Pòrxens, includes conferences, a concert, and the presentation of an award-winning work.

The Fundació Família Costa i Costa, in collaboration with l’Associació Els Pòrxens, is organizing the II Local Studies Conference of Pedreguer on July 3rd and 4th, aiming to promote knowledge of local history and culture.

The Local Studies Conference of Pedreguer celebrates its second edition on July 3rd and 4th. The event, created to promote research and dissemination of the history, culture, and heritage of the town and the Marina Alta region, this year welcomes l’Associació Els Pòrxens as an organizer, alongside the Fundació Família Costa i Costa.
The program will kick off on Friday, July 3rd, with a guitar concert by Pablo Alcaide, serving as a tribute to Dr. Celedoni Calatayud Costa, a renowned scientist and the first professor of Radiology at the Central University of Madrid.
On Saturday, July 4th, the day will begin with the presentation of the winning work of the III Premi Josep Maria Costa, La metamorfosi del silenci: memòria col·lectiva i dinàmica del paisatge a Pedreguer (Marina Alta). Guia didàctica i itinerari cultural, by René Gil Cortés. Subsequently, archaeologist Josep Marqués will present findings from excavations at the Iberian site located on Joana Escorna street, and Josep Andrés will offer a historical overview of the medieval farmhouse of Monterroi.
The conference will conclude with an educational talk titled “Wise and Powerful Women of the Marina Alta: A Hidden History Through the Centuries,” delivered by Universitat de València professors Irene Ballester Buigues and Verònica Zaragoza Gómez. The event will be held at the headquarters of the Fundació Família Costa i Costa, located at Jaume I avenue, number 3, in Pedreguer.
