The Ondara City Council, through its Department of Education, Culture, and Heritage, is organizing the II Democratic Memory Cycle, an initiative aimed at fostering critical reflection and the transmission of democratic values among younger generations.
This cycle, part of the Ondara Educating City project, will take place from April 14 to 30, 2026, and includes a varied program with audiovisual screenings, book presentations, and educational projects. The main objective is to involve the educational community and open it to all citizens to recover historical memory.
“
"This II Democratic Memory Cycle consolidates a line of work initiated last year to make memory a living, critical, and educational element, especially for the youngest generations. Knowing our past is fundamental to understanding the present and building a more just, tolerant, and committed society with democratic values."
The cycle will begin on Friday, April 17, with the screening of the documentary La invasión de los bárbaros, by Vicent Monsonís. There will be a morning session at 12:00 for IES Xebic students and a second public screening at 19:30 at the Municipal Auditorium. In both cases, the documentary will be presented and debated by the production team.
The program will continue on Thursday, April 23, at 20:00, at the El Prado Building, with the presentation of the book Catálogo general de los nombres y los apellidos de Ondara, by Robert Miralles. The event will feature interventions by the Mayor of Ondara, José Ramiro, and Councillor Rosa Ana Marí.
Finally, on Wednesday, April 29, at 19:30, the Municipal Auditorium will host the screening of the documentary Memoria y Familia and the presentation of the IES Xebic educational project La familia, nuestra memoria, developed in collaboration with the Democratic Memory Commission and the Ondara City Council.

"The active participation of students in this cycle is one of its great strengths, because it turns democratic memory into a living and collective learning experience. We invite citizens to participate and make this cycle their own, which aims to turn Ondara into a space for memory, dialogue, and education."
