The Ondara City Council has opened a new public parking area of approximately 1,000 m2 on Doctor Barraquer street, financed by the municipal investment plan agreed upon by PSPV and PP.

The Ondara City Council has opened a new public parking area on Doctor Barraquer street, spanning nearly 1,000 m², thanks to an agreement between the council and the land owner. This new zone is now operational. The project was funded by the municipal investment plan, a collaboration between the PSPV and PP parties, which includes improvements in mobility, lighting, and public infrastructure.
The new parking facility is located at number 43 Doctor Barraquer street and complements the existing parking lot on the same road, creating ample parking space just a short distance from the town center. According to municipal sources, this expansion “responds to the growing need for spaces in one of the areas with the highest demand in the municipality”.
The agreement, signed by mayor José Ramiro and the landowner, allows the City Council to use the land as a public parking lot at no rental cost. In return, the council will cover the property tax (IBI) for both plots during the agreement's term, which is two years, with annual renewal options.
This approach has enabled immediate action: the City Council has already completed the necessary cleaning, land preparation, compaction, and installation of lighting and signage, making the space ready for use.
The creation and improvement of parking spaces are part of the financially sustainable investment package that the council is implementing for the 2025-2027 period. This plan, agreed upon by the PSPV and PP, includes a credit modification of €1,150,000 for projects that enhance services and infrastructure without generating future structural expenses.
Within this framework, the parking lot conditioning project, with a budget of €30,000, includes specific improvements for the Doctor Barraquer parking, such as renewing the pavement, lighting, and space organization.
The City Council has emphasized that this new parking area “represents a significant boost for mobility and accessibility to the urban center,” particularly during peak times. The expansion will facilitate parking for both residents and visitors and contribute to revitalizing the surrounding commercial activity.
With this initiative, Ondara continues to advance its commitment to improving urban mobility and addressing the needs of its residents, through a strategy that combines political consensus, resource optimization, and collaboration with private enterprise.
