The Department of Culture of Ondara is organizing Book Month throughout April, with a full agenda of activities to promote reading and value the literary heritage in the town.

The Councilor for Culture, Rosa Ana Marí, highlighted the firm commitment of the city council to bring reading closer to all ages, considering the book a key piece for building critical thinking, collective memory, and identity as a people.
Among the scheduled activities, on Wednesday, April 22, at 6:00 PM, the Casa de Cultura will host a meeting with early readers. The activity, titled “Enchanted Readings. A Journey of Puppets and Songs”, will be led by Xavi Requena. At this event, the department will present a book to children turning 6 years old, as recognition and encouragement for their introduction to the world of reading.
On Thursday, April 23, at 8:00 PM, the El Prado Building will be the setting for the presentation of the book “General Catalog of Names and Surnames of Ondara”, by Robert Miralles i Cebrià. This work, published by the Ondara City Council, is of great documentary and identity value for the municipality. The event will feature interventions by the mayor of Ondara, José Ramiro, and the Councilor for Culture.

"This publication reflects the city council's commitment to the recovery of historical memory, rigorous research, and the dissemination of its own cultural heritage."

On Friday, April 24, at 8:15 PM (with reception at 7:45 PM), also in the El Prado Building, the new artistic work by the Ondara painter Antonio Torres, titled “Ondara in Time”, will be presented.
The Book Fair will take place on Sunday, April 26, in the Plaza Mayor, starting at 11:00 AM. The event will offer literary stands and book signings with authors such as Robert Miralles, Sergio Pérez Corral, Eduardo Bellver Arberola, Nieves Sendra Mefford, and María Hernández Delgado, courtesy of the Dilatando Mentes bookstore. There will also be giant games for children and an open day at the Municipal Library, enlivened by the Doña Manteca Vermouth Concert and a bar with food and drinks in collaboration with the AECC.
Finally, the literary mural in the olive tree area of the O-30, started last year, will be expanded with a new area dedicated to the Ondara writer and journalist Jovi Lozano-Seser. This expansion, which highlights a key figure in contemporary Valencian literary creation, is expected to be completed by April 23, coinciding with Book Day. Jovi Lozano-Seser is considered the Ondara author with the most awarded career in the Valencian language, and his work has contributed to the dissemination of Valencian literature and the projection of Ondara.
