Agents initiated the investigation after receiving information about a possible indoor marijuana plantation in a rural area house. Investigations carried out by the Judicial Police of Dénia revealed that the property had been rented for three years to a man.
During the investigation, irregularities were detected in the identity document presented by the tenant, which turned out to be false, a common practice to hinder police action. Furthermore, signs of unusual electricity consumption were found, characteristic of indoor plantations.
With judicial authorization, agents searched the property, where they found a fully operational marijuana plantation. The operation resulted in the arrest of the two men and the seizure of 30.70 kilograms of marijuana buds, three of which were already vacuum-packed and hidden in a false ceiling, in addition to 79 plants in production and all the necessary infrastructure for cultivation.
It was confirmed that the plantation was being supplied with electricity through an illegal connection to the general supply network. One of the detainees, who initially identified himself with false details, was found to have a European arrest warrant (EAW) for drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons in Lithuania. He was placed at the disposal of the competent court of the Audiencia Nacional, while the other was placed at the disposal of the investigating courts of Dénia.
