On March 27, the IES Xebic in Ondara was the focus of an important assembly. This meeting gathered institutional representatives, teaching staff, and student families with the aim of diagnosing the problems affecting the center and proposing concrete lines of action.
Participation was broad, including the mayors of Els Poblets, el Verger, Ràfol d’Almúnia, Sanet, Benimeli, and Ondara, as well as families and representatives from the center's AFA. This attendance highlights the regional nature of IES Xebic and the need for a coordinated response among the various administrations involved.
During the session, several critical issues were brought to light. These included student saturation and overcrowding, infrastructure deficiencies – especially leaks and filtrations that, during rain episodes, can render teaching spaces unusable – and the lack of material resources to adequately address students' educational needs.
Attendees agreed on the importance of addressing this situation from a joint perspective, promoting actions that improve the center's conditions and guarantee quality public education.
As a result of the assembly, a series of proposals were agreed upon to be submitted to the competent administrations. These include the urgent review and execution of actions planned in the Edificant Plan approved in 2023, with an emphasis on resolving leaks. It was also proposed to adapt and climatize classrooms and other spaces to ensure dignified conditions for teaching.
One of the key proposals is the planning of a new educational infrastructure in el Verger, or an institute section, to accommodate students from this locality and Els Poblets up to 4th year of ESO. This measure aims to reduce pressure on IES Xebic. Finally, the adoption of provisional measures to optimize existing spaces while new educational infrastructures are materialized was proposed. The importance of strengthening institutional coordination and maintaining dialogue for monitoring the situation was emphasized.
