The latest Social Security affiliation data for the first quarter of 2026 reveal the economic profile of Marina Alta. Hospitality leads with 12,038 workers, closely followed by commerce, which registers 11,987 affiliates.
The sum of these two sectors reaches 24,025 workers, representing more than 37% of all affiliations in the region. This reality underscores the territory's strong dependence on tourism and consumption, with waiters, cooks, and sales assistants as key figures in the labor market.
Construction ranks third with 8,996 affiliates, a significant figure, but considerably lower than hospitality and commerce. Other sectors such as professional activities, manufacturing industry, or health services show a much smaller volume of employment.
This productive model, strongly linked to the service sector and tourism, generates thousands of jobs but also shows a dependence on sectors sensitive to seasonality and consumption fluctuations. Marina Alta continues to create employment primarily in areas where there is direct customer demand.
