The municipal corporation of Oliva is moving forward in finding a definitive solution for the Tonyinero Bridge, an infrastructure that connects with Dénia and currently presents a risk of collapse after decades without proper maintenance. City council representatives have met with the provincial deputy for Roads to coordinate a joint action that will allow the construction of a new bridge.
“"All administrations have assumed the urgency of the action. We are here to provide solutions to the problems of our town."
The involved administrations are already working on drafting a collaboration agreement. Within this framework, the Provincial Council of Valencia will assume the funding corresponding to the municipality of Oliva, which is 50% of the total cost. The city council will be responsible for promoting and managing the contracting of the works.
The bridge, which crosses the Molinell River, is the natural border between Oliva and Dénia and belongs to both municipalities. Therefore, it is planned to continue discussions with the Dénia City Council in the coming days to involve them in the project. The provincial deputy for Roads has confirmed that the Provincial Council already has the necessary credit to grant a nominative subsidy to the Oliva City Council, which will materialize in the coming weeks.
“"Coordination between administrations is key to advancing projects of this magnitude and achieving real improvements for the municipality."
During the meeting, the connection between Oliva and Piles through the beach area was also discussed, a project that is currently being worked on and presents technical difficulties related to the land's floodability. With these advancements, the Oliva City Council takes another step towards the renovation of a key infrastructure for mobility and safety in the area.
