Dénia's Mayor, Rafa Carrió, has underscored the importance of dialogue upon assuming his responsibilities, stating that "dialogue is not just a slogan" and that words must translate into actions for the city's progress. In his initial statements, Carrió expressed a commitment to listening to all voices and fostering a relationship based on respect and a willingness to reach agreements, despite ideological differences.
In this regard, the mayor has held meetings with various opposition groups, including the spokesperson for Vox, Félix Redondo, and that of Gent de Dénia, Mario Vidal, as well as with representatives from the PP, Pepa Font and Juan Carlos Signes. The aim is to exchange impressions and define the type of political relationship to be built during the legislative term.
“"One of the first things I said upon taking the reins was that I wanted to listen to all voices. And words had to turn into deeds because Dénia deserves it."
The Popular Party (PP) has positively assessed the meeting with the mayor, describing it as a "cordial and constructive" encounter that facilitates the resumption of fluid institutional dialogue. The Popular Party highlighted that this is the first time in the current legislature that the mayor's office has formally convened the main opposition group to discuss strategic issues.
During the meeting, the PP recalled its readiness to collaborate on key matters for Dénia, such as the funding of the new Raquel Payà school, the construction of a second residence for the elderly, or the establishment of an ITV (vehicle inspection center) in the city. They reiterated their commitment to exercising a "responsible, useful, and constructive" opposition.

Pepa Font and Juan Carlos Signes expressed their hope that this new phase will foster a more serene political climate, based on institutional respect and the participation of all municipal groups. They believe that opening a new era of institutional communication benefits the entire city and that the general interest of Dénia should take precedence over political differences.
