The management team of IES La Mar in Xàbia has resigned as a pressure tactic to defend public, quality education in Valencian, citing serious deficiencies at the school and the teaching staff's rejection of the regional ministry's offer.

The management team of IES La Mar in Xàbia has announced their resignation under the slogan 'We continue fighting,' a decision framed within the defense of public, quality education in Valencian. This move joins similar resignations from other management teams in schools across the Valencian Community, such as IES Xebic in Ondara, amid the critical situation in the education system.
The resignation gains particular significance after the majority of Valencian teachers rejected the Ministry of Education's offer, leading to the reactivation of an indefinite strike. The meeting between the regional department and unions concluded without agreement, as the offer did not include the teaching staff's main demands.
IES La Mar in Xàbia suffers from severe structural problems, including overcrowded classrooms, lack of infrastructure and teaching staff, and even the need for families to fund basic materials. An alarming example is the blocked ground-floor windows and the canteen windows, which cannot be opened due to the risk of falling. These issues have already been communicated to the mayor.
This resignation comes shortly before a large human chain protest organized by the educational community in Xàbia. The demonstration, starting at 7:00 PM from the Triana bridge, will stretch from the port to El Arenal, involving students, teachers, and citizens demanding educational improvements.
