The initiative, born from a neighbor's proposal, seeks to improve the image of green waste deposits and raise citizen awareness about the importance of correctly recycling pruning waste. The Councilor for Ecological Transition, Sandra Gertrúdix, embraced the idea from Luis Silvestre, a resident of Les Marines, as a solution for this dual objective.
Artists Adela Marzà, Domingo Oller (Ondewol), and Daniel García have begun to paint their designs on the large iron containers on Calle de la Via. Each muralist will decorate four containers, contributing their own style, but always with a nature-focused theme, featuring vegetal motifs and symbolic elements of Dénia.
“"To raise awareness that green waste must be recycled and done correctly."
To avoid confusion, each unit will include clear messages such as “Here is your home's pruning waste” or “Green recycling”. Gertrúdix has reminded that the pruning waste container service for individuals is free and included in the urban cleaning contract, but it is often affected by improper use.
With this action, the Dénia City Council not only seeks to beautify the city but also to encourage residents to make responsible and correct use of this essential resource for green waste recycling.
