Dénia is preparing for the third edition of the 'Teatre al carrer' festival on June 6th, transforming public spaces into stages to bring culture closer to the citizens.

Dénia's streets and squares will once again be filled with theatre, dance, and culture on Saturday, June 6th, with the celebration of the third edition of ‘Teatre al carrer’, an initiative that has carved out its own niche in the city's cultural programming year after year.
The initiative will turn various emblematic corners of the municipality into open-air stages, “to bring performing arts closer to the citizens in a personal, accessible, and vibrant way, inviting the public to tour the city through different free performances throughout the afternoon,” commented Valen Alcalà, the Youth Councillor.
The program will kick off at 6:30 PM on the steps of Carrer Olivera with “Estem penjats” by La Mar Salà, a theatrical piece recommended for ages 12 and up. At 7:15 PM, the Ayuntamiento Square will host “Dolores, Remedios y Consuelo,” a contemporary dance piece by dancer Marta Sofía Gallego, open to all audiences.
The route will continue at 7:45 PM inside the old trinquet with “Dutxa,” by the group Manía, another theatrical proposal aimed at those over 12 years old. The day will conclude at 8:30 PM at the Dénia Social Centre with the Mostra de Teatre Ciutat de Dénia, where the collective Soberanas will perform the play “La libertad se toma”.
‘Teatre al carrer’ is organized by the Department of Youth, the ETC (Escola de Teatre Comarcal Marina Alta), and the collective Via Escènica, a collaboration that continues to champion open, shared culture capable of transforming everyday spaces into places of artistic expression and encounter.
The Youth Councillor, Valen Alcalà, highlighted that ‘Teatre al carrer’ is “a beautiful way to experience culture up close, turning the city's everyday spaces into stages open to everyone for a few hours.” He encouraged residents to “come out and enjoy accessible and free cultural offerings that showcase the talent born and nurtured in our region.”
