The event, titled “From Wealth to Prosperity: Residents at the Center of Tourism Management,” will take place at 8:00 PM in the Library of Els Poblets. The aim is to reflect on the current challenges of the tourism model and how it affects local communities, seeking formulas for management that does not subjugate residents.
The session will include a round table titled “The Dictatorship of Tourist Reason. From Devoted Subject to Tourist Sovereignty.” The intention is to denaturalize the tourism system and analyze how the current model conditions local reality, addressing possibilities for advancing towards authentic tourist sovereignty that defends common goods, the territory's carrying capacity, and housing.
Participants in the debate will include Joanmi Rafet, doctor in Social Sciences and professor at the Universitat de València; Jordi Giner, doctor in Sociology and professor at the same university, specializing in residential tourism; and Josep Vicent Miralles, writer, journalist, and screenwriter.
The program will be completed by the screening of the audiovisual “Tourism and Living Local Communities,” a presentation recorded at the Dénia Creative City Foundation, featuring Raquel Huete, doctor in Sociology and specialist in tourism sociology at the Universitat d'Alacant.
The initiative is supported by the Aliança Viva de la Marina Alta and is part of the Town Hall of Els Poblets' commitment to fostering spaces for dialogue and critical thinking about the municipality's future.
