The initiative aims to reward citizens most involved in the proper management of household waste. For this purpose, a budget of 110,000 euros has been allocated. The president of Consorci Mare, José Ramón González de Zárate, explained that the intention is to encourage all citizens in the 52 municipalities to register in the system, which requires downloading a mobile application and visiting an ecopark.
The subsidy will be transferred to the 52 town councils, which will be responsible for applying the discount to their residents. El Campello has the highest number of beneficiaries, with a total of 1,408 users. It is followed by Altea, with 621 residents, and Orba, with 520.
In terms of percentage of the registered population, smaller municipalities stand out. Tormos leads the list with 60.6% of its citizens receiving a discount (196 out of 323 inhabitants). Sanet i Negrals (39.7%), Sagra and la Vall d’Alcalà (both 35%), and Sella (31.72%) also show high percentages.
To be eligible for the discount, citizens must download the mobile application Consorci MARE Actais Waste (available for iOS and Android) and register at their nearest ecopark. This system allows for tracking the waste deposited throughout the year. Mobile ecoparks visit the municipalities regularly, and their schedules and locations can be found on the institution's website and social media.
