Nearly 200 elderly residents gathered early this morning at Dénia's municipal sports center to secure spots in the physical activity program, enduring queues of over two hours due to the slow enrollment process.

The enrollment period for the upcoming 2026/27 senior physical activity program began this Monday, leading to a large gathering of users at Dénia's municipal sports facilities. Before the offices even opened at 8:00 AM, approximately 200 people had formed a queue stretching over 80 meters, connecting the municipal sports center and the Joan Fuster pavilion, all aiming to secure a spot in person.
The slow pace of the process, attributed to a shortage of staff at the enrollment offices, has sparked user indignation. This lack of human resources has resulted in waiting times exceeding two hours. To escape the direct sun during the long wait, most seniors sought shade from the pavilion's wall.
Growing frustration led to an impromptu signature collection within the queue, intended to formally present a complaint to the City Council of Dénia.
Enrollment opened this Monday from 9 AM to 2 PM for the program «Al teu ritme» – Physical Activity for Health. This program will take place at the Trinquet El Rovellet on Mondays and Wednesdays, with morning groups (9:30-10:30 AM and 10:30-11:30 AM) and afternoon groups (3:30-4:30 PM), at a quarterly fee of 55 euros.
