Hundreds of homes in the Monte Pego urbanization, located in Marina Alta, have been experiencing a critical situation for a week due to a pump failure at the Salvador well, which has interrupted their water supply.

The lack of water has significantly impacted the daily lives of residents, who have no supply for basic tasks such as washing or cleaning. This situation stems from a malfunction in the pump of the Salvador well, the primary water source for the urbanization.
The Monte Pego urbanization, comprising over 1,500 homes, operates with a water supply system that is not integrated into Pego's municipal network. A private company has managed the service since 1984.
In response to this emergency, the El Ràfol d'Almúnia Town Council has installed three water tanks to alleviate the situation. Meanwhile, the Pego Town Council is undertaking the necessary repairs to fix the breakdown, the cost of which will later be borne by the concessionaire company responsible for the water supply.
It is anticipated that water service will be restored and flow from taps again starting tomorrow, bringing an end to a week of hardship for the affected residents.
