This initiative, which combines reading and solidarity, will take place in three locations to mark International Book Day on April 23. The main objective is to support various social entities in the region, transforming culture into direct aid for families who need it most.
“"This campaign turns culture into direct aid. Every book exchanged is an opportunity for real support for families who need it."
The director of UNED Dénia, Raquel Martí, emphasized the social purpose of the project, highlighting that, in addition to providing material support, the campaign promotes citizen participation, community commitment, and a love for reading. The proceeds will go to different entities depending on the location.
In Dénia, the collected products will go to the Mesa Solidaria. In Benidorm, the campaign will support the Asociación Benéfica de Ayuda en Emergencia Corazón Exprés. Finally, in Xàbia, donations will be directed to Cáritas Interparroquial.
The dates and locations to participate in the 2026 edition are as follows: in Xàbia, on Monday, April 20, from 10:00 to 16:00 h, at Portal del Clot – Ronda Sur, 37; in Dénia, on Thursday, April 23, from 9:30 to 18:00 h, at the entrance of the Casa de la Cultura; and in Benidorm, on Friday, April 24, from 10:00 to 16:00 h, on Tomás Ortuño Street, next to the Municipal Market.
Ways to collaborate include solidarity exchange, by providing non-perishable food or personal hygiene products in exchange for a book, or by volunteering on the day of the event. For more information or to sign up as a volunteer, you can contact UNED Dénia.
