The Xàtiva City Council has published the guidelines for selecting the director of the city's Museum, a new professional figure who will strengthen the management and projection of municipal cultural spaces.

The call for applications, published in the Official Provincial Gazette (BOP), details that the position will be filled by free designation, based on merit, capacity, and suitability. It can be held by both civil servants and external professionals specializing in cultural management, museology, and heritage.
The role will be a professional public management position and will be attached to the City Council's cultural department. Key responsibilities will include artistic direction, coordination of exhibitions, administrative and budgetary management, and supervision of the city's collections and exhibition spaces.
The call emphasizes the need to promote a modern cultural strategy with an international outlook. The selected individual will be responsible for developing initiatives to enhance the positioning of Xàtiva's museums within the regional and national cultural network, foster citizen participation, strengthen educational programs, and promote new avenues for the dissemination of local heritage.
Planned tasks include defining cultural marketing strategies, coordinating with educational institutions, promoting exchanges with other museum and cultural institutions, and planning conservation and restoration programs for the municipal museum's heritage pieces.
Applicants must hold qualifications related to Art History, Archaeology, Fine Arts, Anthropology, or Cultural Heritage Conservation and Restoration, among other related disciplines, and demonstrate proficiency in Valencian at C1 level.
The selection process will include an assessment of merits, a strategic report, and a personal interview. In the report, candidates will need to present concrete proposals for the future development of the city's museums, defining lines of action, objectives, and cultural management strategies.
The Xàtiva City Council explains that this call represents another step in the municipal commitment to consolidate culture and heritage as key elements for social cohesion, tourism promotion, and economic revitalization. The municipal government believes that the creation of this professional directorship will allow for continued progress in modernizing museum spaces and promoting Xàtiva as one of the Valencian cultural capitals.
